 Igor Halanda

Airline captain, instructor and manager of www.AviatorShop.eu (Europe based shop for pilots, aircraft operators and flight schools). I started flying ultra-lights in 1994 at Vajnory airport (LZVB) in Bratislava.

I had the chance to meet and see some aircraft builders at this airport which was a great inspiration. Nowadays I fly the B737 and instruct on the ATR42/72; mostly type ratings. I am the lucky one to have all the support by my family and friends –  Everyone wants to fly the RV

This way I would like to pay tribute to all the pilots and builders who inspired me and helped me to reach my goals in aviation.

 Karol Benedikovič

Experienced aircraft technician and passionate pilot/instructor; gliding champion; qualified engineer on B737, and Saab aircraft. Karol was a technician on MIG-21 when drafted for the military service. Furthermore Karol is an experienced builder.

Karol already built a bunch of airplanes including ZENAIR 601 and 701 and the Italian DUI. He works freelance as a Supervisor for other builders and manages the paperwork with the Slovak Aviation Authority as well.

Our first intention was to buy an older high performance airplane and just get it in shape; but still looking at the purchase, upgrade costs and maintenance costs we have decided to go the other route; which is more time consuming, but still about 1/4th of the cost of a new high performance certified airplane. The avionics equipment, interior and final design is with the builder. This allows for a nice customization.

We wanted to build a classic aluminium all metal plane to avoid the work with chemistry. The RV-10 is light weight flush riveted; this allows for a really good cruise speed and overall performance, including a relatively short field characteristics. All of the performance figures and the good reputation of both the plane and the kit manufacturer made our decision easy.
